Get To Know | How To Dress Well

How To Dress Well‘s Tom Krell crafts lazy R&B that stands up to rigorous analysis and attentive listening, but is equally suited to warm background music that will sneak up and wash over you. His 2010 debut, Love Remains, is akin to an aural archaeological dig. Sifting through layers of woozy reverb, the listener is rewarded with fractured shards of the once-dead genre that was so prominent during the early nineties.
While Krell was at the forefront of the reinvention of R&B, he has since seen artists like The Weeknd and Frank Ocean follow in his footsteps. In what appears to be an effort to break from these contemporaries, his latest EP, Just Once, features reworkings of his 2010 album, backed by a talented string quartet.
