Pompeya | Power (Jimmy Edgar remix)

artworks-000064261359-a7f7bg-t500x500 (1)

Jimmy Edgar ‘s remix of Pompeya ‘s “Power” drives hard with his signature four-to-the-floor claps and a symphony of dark warm morphing synths. The synths convey an air of coy reservedness on the surface–they remain cool and collected throughout. But there is also a sense that there is a turbid ocean of energy underneath them.

Various Artists | HTH vs HTH [Houndstooth]

The Houndstooth family brings forth this astoundingly dimensional compilation; dedicated to you the listener for the role you’ve played in their successes over 2012, and as an “affordable” opportunity for their more “casual” or new listeners to delve further into their roster.

“HTH vs HTH is a 7 track EP that pits the production processes of our artists against one another with Special Request and Akkord tackling each other’s stems whilst Call Super and Second Storey trade tracks alongside interweaved interpretations of House of Black Lanterns and _Unsubscribe_ and a chilling Snow Ghosts cover version.”

Paul Woolford | Untitled (Scuba remix)

Hot Flush director Scuba has remixed Paul Woolford ‘s “Untitled” and the product is an ecstatic techno house banger.

Praise George Fitzgerald and his label ManMakeMusic for its policy of sharing full-length versions of their new releases on SoundCloud.

This is the second offering from Laszlo Dancehall ( Leon Vynehall + Christian Piers ) on MMM –three driving lo-fi tech house belters, each with its own distinctive flavour–joined by the common threads of a 4/4 groove and the hiss of tape saturation.

“Whip That” is light-hearted funky Chicago/Detroit-inspired crunchy UK-house.

“Flute Works” is dark, hypnotizing and percussion-driven.

“Fatty Que” is an exuberant dynamic interplay between an indecipherable mangled pitched-down vocal snippet and a soft warm bed of analog chords over top of a relentless 909 loop.

If you’re feeling those cuts, here is a link to their first EP released back in May.

Recondite | Stems (Into the Dew Mix)

Recondite

Ahead of his forthcoming release, Hinterland , Berlin producer and Plagent label head Recondite shares an alternate mix of one of its tracks. His ‘Into the Dew Mix’ of “Stems” is rich with atmospheric sound and furnished with an apt juxtaposition of soft, lullaby-esque melody and deep, blunted bass tones.

“I tried to capture the area’s mentality and natural environment within the album… Particularly, the moods that behold the emotions of the four seasons, which differ a lot in this region.”

Hinterland will be see an official release on November 11 via Ghostly Records .

This is Jimmy Edgar ‘s second appearance on his new Berlin-based Ultramagic imprint. The Mercurio EP/single includes “Mercurio” and “Ultraviolet” and “Qlinda”.

“Ultramajic has lofty aims, uniting Edgar’s twin passions for ritual magick and meditation while focusing on developing new artists and a new personal sound.”

I wish Hot Flush would put up full-length tracks on SoundCloud instead of these unsatisfying teaser compilations, but that’s all we get for now…

Here is a preview of Dense & Pika ‘s Colt EP out on October 13th…

The title track is the definite stand-out for me upon first listen through. If you know this duo for their cold-as-ice stripped-down machine rhythms, you might be surprised by the musicality, warmth, and soul of “Colt”.

The live percussion jam in the last cut is very compelling as well.

Invisible Conga People | In a Hole (Tennis edit)

I just discovered this Berlin-based producer–Mr. Manifredi Romano a.k.a. Tennis , Life & Death, and Self Portrait.

This edit of Invisible Conga People ‘s “In A Hole” is deep, weird, soulful in the best senses of the words…
