artworks-000058534548-chko9q-t500x500

Detroit’s Kyle Hall delivers a warm and crunchy re-intepretation of Mount Kimbie ‘s “You Took Your Time”. This remix will be featured on the CSFLY remix compilation forthcoming at the end of this month on Warp .

Vampire Weekend | Diane Young (Candidat remix)

avatars-000048272865-8izh6h-t500x500

It’s not often that we post submissions. One reason for that is because I don’t stay on top of the inbox.

However, this morning I received a message from Candidat with a link to this song and I’m glad that I happened to open it. This is delightful candy-coated funky feel-good french-house. Candidat slices Ezra Koenig’s giddy boyish vocals from the outro of “Diane Young” into staccato lead riffs, rendering the original lyrics undecipherable. And I hope you have a subwoofer wired up when you press play because the low-end on this mix is full and deep.

So you know, this one is also for free download

Dusky | Careless

artworks-000058148671-dpavtp-t500x500

artworks-000058148671-dpavtp-t500x500

Out now on AUS music, this is the title track from Dusky ‘s Careless EP… Dusky delivers an infectious bass riff that dances with the rhythm of the re-pitched vocal snippets “everything” “I” “want you” “yeah” “true” over top of a steady four-to-the-floor groove.

mmm tastes so sweet…

Drake | Too Much ft. Sampha (Jason Burns & Jessie Andrews remix)

artworks-000058467993-xtxzu7-t500x500 (1)

Jason Burns and Jessie Andrews put together this infectious future bass uk-house re-interpretation of Drake’s “Too Much” featuring Sampha . Burns and Andrews leave Drake out of the equation and shine the spotlight on Sampha’s angelic falsetto.

This jam is pretty undeniable. As one SoundCloud commentator, Vick the God, put it, “I love this shit, and I don’t even fuck with techno.”

Don’t forget to snatch up the free download if you’re feeling it.

Sound Stream | Love Jam (Maceo Plex bootleg)

PLEX

Maceo Plex took the liberty of remixing Sound Stream ‘s “Love Jam” and he has graciously made the final product available for free download…

Bondax | Giving It All (Joe Goddard Remix)

Joe Goddard

Once again, Joe Goddard has put aside a moment from his production work with Hot Chip and come through with yet another ace remix. His take on Bondax ’s  “Giving It All” is characteristically ebullient what with the sparkling synths and the infectious female vocals kept relatively intact. However, at 2:50, a snappy industrial synth line interjects to harden the mood.

Cyril Hahn | Raw Cut

artworks-000054105660-0ddfqq-t500x500

This Vancouver-based Swiss electronic dance producer grabbed our attention with his dynamite bootleg version of Destiny’s Child’s “Say My Name” .

On “Raw Cut”, Hahn delivers warm soothing melodic synths and soulful vocal snippets drenched in a spacious reverb over top a steady 4/4 disco house groove. Make sure you hold out patiently until 2:00 for the introduction of an infectious triplet lead guitar riff, which ties the whole track together. “Raw Cut” is coming out July 10th on PMR .

George FitzGerald | I Can Tell (By the Way You Move)

George FitzGerald

George FitzGerald

Since George FitzGerald ’s “I Can Tell (By the Way You Move)” debuted during the Hotflush x Boiler Room Takeover with FitzGerald and Scuba , a few different rips have been floating around the interwebs. Now, following his signing to Domino Records , the UK house kingpin has shared a longer (though still not full) version of the single.

Dense & Pika | Move Your Body Back EP

artworks-000051353165-dzyht3-t500x500

Following up “ Crispy Duck “, Chris Spero (otherwise known as UK house and techno producer Glimpse ) and Hypercolour co-founder and producer, Alex Jones, return as Dense & Pika with a new EP entitled Move Your Body Back for Hot Flush Recordings .

A1. Move Your Body Back
B1. Lack of Light
B2. Backstage Mute

The duo delivers unapologetically cold stripped-down functionalist warehouse rave techno. Their percussion-centric sound is marked by the sparseness of melodic content. Part of the appeal for me is the way the hypnotic repetition of driving machine rhythms and fragmented speech induces a trance-like psychological state.

They played the title track on their Resident Advisor podcast in March and it is receiving support from the likes of Maya Jane Coles, Boddika and Adam Beyer, amongst others.

The XX | Fiction (Maya Jane Coles remix)

artworks-000049687010-uzj1x2-t500x500

UK-based dance producer Maya Jane Coles put her spin on “Fiction” from Co-Exist The XX’s second full-length effort for XL Recordings . Coles layers Oliver Sim’s hushed moody vocals upon a bed of soothing instrumentation and a 4-to-the-floor groove.

Coles is gearing up to release her debut album entitled Comfort on her own I/AM/ME label this summer, a collection of 12 tracks including two that feature vocals from Coles herself.

The xx also have summer plans… They will present the first of their series of mini-festivals at London’s Hatfield House on June 22. Night + Day will feature performances from pals of the band including Mount Kimbie, Kindness, Solange and Poliça.

Lone | Airglow Fires

artworks-000049649580-x1i47x-t500x500

Gilles Peterson has turned me onto a long list of deep soulful memorable cuts since I started listening to his radio show on BBC four or five years ago. This past Saturday afternoon, he opened up his three-hour set with this captivating number, which he described as “hi-tech jazz.” On “Airglow Fires,” Lone offers a refined balance of musical depth and dance-floor appeal. It will be released on R&S on July 14th.

We have been following Lone–a.k.a Matt Cutler of Nottingham–since Emerald Fantasy Tracks , his second full-length, released via Magic Wire . The new single “Airglow Fires” follows up his first full-length for R&S Records entitled Galaxy Garden . One of the stand-out cuts from Galaxy Garden you might remember is “ Crystal Caverns 1991 .”

Recover (Cid Rim remix) | CHVRCHES

artworks-000041003989-8mj101-t500x500

so pick any number
choose any color
i’ve got the answer
open the envelope

So we slept on this dynamite remix of CHVRCHES Recover ” by Vienna’s Cid Rim . It came out three months ago, but I heard it for the first time on Gilles Peterson ‘s best-of-2013-so-far special a couple Saturdays ago.

I’m sharing it today because if you haven’t heard it already and you get off on the emotional rush of infectious club anthems with killer vocal hooks, then you deserve to listen to this cut.

CHVRCHES is a trio based in Glasgow. The group was listed on BBC’s Sound of 2013 list and they recently released their Recover EP on Glassnote .

Jamie Lidell | You Naked (Jimmy Edgar Remix)

[Jimmy Edgar]

Detroit-born dance floor champion, Jimmy Edgar , has transformed Jamie Lidell ‘s original “You Naked” into a sexy deep groove that is sure to shake walls at obscure hours in the coming weeks. Jamie’s whining vocals augment Jimmy’s raw and distorted beat flawlessly. Find some pretty eyes, stare into them, and move your body to the beat. The remix has been released via Warp Records , and is available to purchase today on ITunes .

Booka Shade | Blackout: White Noise

This prolific Berlin-based duo just shared the title track from their upcoming Blackout: White Noise EP . Simply put, this is crisp melodic muscular dance music inspired by house and techno. It effortlessly holds my attention as it breathes, builds, and evolves over seven minutes…

They will be playing at Coachella this year and may be coming to a town near you in the not-so-distant future–check the tour schedule here .

Lulu James | Closer (Kidnap Kid Remix)

Kidnap Kid

[Kidnap Kid]

For the latest edition of Annie Mac ‘s Free Music Mondays we see Matt Relton, better known as Kidnap Kid , take a turn at remixing Lulu James ‘ “Closer.” A few days back, fellow UK artist Brolin released his own understated take on the track, which we enjoyed thoroughly. However, Kidnap Kid has taken the song in another direction. As the producer behind her last EP ( Be Safe/Stuck ), he is quite familiar with James’ style, which seems to give him an edge when reworking her track. He doesn’t change very much- with a few tweaks here and there, Relton simply infuses a subtle and welcome dance floor feel into the original while leaving almost everything else intact.
