Split Secs | Slave [Vocal Preview]
![]()
Los Angeles based group, Split Secs, are floating under the radar despite the fact that they produce music of very high quality. The one-minute clip of their recent work is a cover of Camacho’s Project’s 1990′s house gem, titled Slave. Split Sec’s rendition is currently sitting at a mere 16 plays on Soundcloud, and this to me is baffling. With a deep groove thumping underneath a sensual vocal line, Slave is surely deserved of more ears.

Disclosure | Latch ft. Sam Smith

[Guy and Howard Lawrence, a.k.a. Disclosure]
This afternoon, prolific UK bass duo, Disclosure, treated followers by uploading a brand-new track on their soundcloud account. Latch is one of those songs that demands jurisdiction over your limbs, cueing your arms and legs to jerk in time. With the addition of newcomer Sam Smith‘s sensual vocals, the club-driven, ‘tailored-for-the-dance floor’ composition is ideal for listener’s Friday night festivities.
Rumour has it that a full length LP is in the works, expected to release next year.

Shlohmo | Boiler Room 60 Minute Mix
Just Incase you missed it, here is Shlohmo’s hour long DJ set from The Boiler Room Los Angeles. Personally, my favorite moments from the mix include Jeremih’s Fuck U All The Time, Ghost Town DJ’s My Boo, and a chopped and screwed rendition of the theme song from the late television show, All That.
If you like what you heard, make sure to pick up the free download on the Soundcloud widget.
Update: The audio for the Youtube video has been disabled due to some copyright issues- hopefully it’s back up soon.

Video: Grimes | Genesis

[Claire Boucher, a.k.a, Grimes]
The video for Genesis is one step into the weird workings of Claire Boucher’s mind. The self-directed piece features Grimes and stripper/rapper Brooke Candy spiritually gallivanting in front of various settings. Genesis is taken from the album, Visions, out now on 4AD/Arbutus.

Arp 101 x Elliot Yorke | Fluro Black

London beat makers, Arp 101 and Elliot Yorke, have tagged up to bring followers a collaboration EP forthcoming via Donky Pitch Records. The single, Fluro Black, has recently surfaced on various Soundcloud accounts with the intent to promote the upcoming partnership. I particularly enjoy the variety of clicks and clacks featured throughout the beat, especially the sample of an ice-cube dropping into an empty glass.

To follow up the anthemic first release on Broadwalk Records, Julio Bashmore has called upon underground garage-house veteran, Maddslinky, (a.k.a Zed Bias.) The new single, titled Compuphonic, is a dark, deep, and groove-inducing track that is in no way inferior to Bashmore’s smash hit, Au Seve.

Jessie Ware | Sweet Talk
[Jessie Ware]
Earlier this morning, English pop-soul artist, Jessie Ware, unofficially released the single, Sweet Talk, by making the track available to stream on her own Youtube channel. Sweet Talk features production from Bristolian bass-music behemoth, Julio Bashmore, and by Dave Okumu, the lead singer and guitarist of the British band, The Invisible.
Jessie Ware’s Sweet Talk is a dreamy and seductive combination between tasteful electronic-yet-organic production, and Jessie’s gentle depiction of submitting to emotion opposed to logic. The result is beautiful, achieving near perfect chemistry of atmosphere and sentiment.
Sweet Talk is taken from the Jessie’s debut album, Devotion, available to pre-order, here.

Earlier this evening, a brand new A$AP Rocky single began to surface on music charts and blogs alike. Pussy Money Weed is expected to be featured on the ‘Pretty Flacko’s next album, Long Live A$AP, due September 11th of this year. Please excuse the low quality YouTube stream and the boisterous DJ tags; the track is fresh out of the oven.
