Caribou | Can’t Do Without You

It’s been ages, but well worth the wait.  This is the latest from Caribou -

“Can’t Do Without You” is the first tune from Our Love , his forthcoming album which will be out on Merge Records on the 7th of October.

Holden | Renata (Daphni remix)

Renata

In anticipation of his new album The Inheritors , James Holden shared a single entitled  ‘Renata’ along with a pair of remixes by Daphni and Steve Moore .

In return for a previous remix favour from Holden, Dan Snaith, a.k.a. Caribou , puts on his DJ-friendly Daphni hat and delivers a weird blend of manic re-pitched vocals, rolling garage swing, and whirling psychedelic synths.

Four Tet | Fabriclive 59

The London nightclub Fabric has been releasing monthly compilation albums since 2001. The FabricLive Mix series has provided as a vessel for prominent DJ’s, like Caspa and Rusko, and as a one stop drop for club goers and music enthusiasts alike. The 59th edition will be released this September 19th and this time around it’s Four Tet at the helm. This mix will also feature the likes of Burial and Caribou, check out the whole track list and pre-purchase your copy here .

“Interestingly, the entire mix is constructed on computer, more in the way you would create a film score than a DJ mix. Yet every track is vinyl, with Kieran cutting acetates of all his own music for the mix, to ensure that the sound quality and vibe is consistent. It’s then mastered with no cleaning or leveling, to retain the hiss, pop and crackle of the wax.”

Locked is the leaked closing track to this edition of FabricLive and provides the perfect resolution to this trip.

“Eventually, Hebden adds an unlikely foil by plugging in a gently tweaked synth line that provides the track with the light/dark fulcrum around which it turns.”
