Ryan Hemsworth | Last Words EP
There is a certain standard of sonic quality that has come to be associated with the WEDIDIT brethren; with artists like Shlohmo , Juj , and Jonwayne holding it down, the bar has and continues to be set on the top rung.
Last Words , the first project to be released on WEDIDIT from Canadian producer Ryan Hemsworth , fits in flawlessly with the niche that the tight-knit collective have created for themselves. There’s an undeniable eclecticism embedded in Hemsworth’s sound and while his soundscapes compliment those emerging from various other artists on the roster, his manage to stand alone as well. He explains his latest effort as follows-
”Making an EP is limiting in how many tracks you can have and how long it can be, but I think it’s a healthy challenge. I’m trying to put a whole bunch of feelings into under 25 minutes, in a way that can work in the club, bedroom, car, or wherever it’s listened to. It’s not what every artist intends to do with an EP but I find it fun to approach it that way. That’s what I wanted, a bit of everything. Brightness, darkness, positive, negative, quiet, loud. Once the tracks are there, the other stuff slowly falls into place.”
We’re particularly fond of Colour and Movement wherein Hemsworth weaves in samples from The Notwist ‘s “Consequence.” However, the whole album and it’s intricacies are gold. Take a listen below or head over here to cop it for a fiver.
