Photek | Pyramid
Since his debut with the timeless Modus Operandi in 1997, Rupert Parkes, better known as Photek , has released three full-length albums. Now, considering the quality of his work, it’s not exactly fair to use the word “only” in this context. We could name a number of noteworthy artists who have been around for just as long and have offered significantly more output than Parkes. However, very few have come forth with a consistently similar level of excellence.
Photek is widely known for his gift for drum programming. As Factmag notes, “Burial is but one contemporary producer to have expressed his awe for the texture, swing and precision of Parkes’ percussion,” and yesterday we were reminded why. Parke’s sixth LP, KU:PALM will drop in physical form on October 23 and digitally on October 30. “Pyramid,” which showcases that classic percussive stride, is the first peek we’ve received into the inner workings of the album. Listen below and mark your calendars- KU:PALM will be released on Parkes’ very own Photek Productions imprint.
