The White Lamp | Ride With You EP

Hotflush‘s first release of 2014 brings a handful of first-time contributors to the label…
UK-based duo The White Lamp, a collaboration between Darren Emerson and vocalist Peter Josef, follow up their soulful single “Make It Good” from last year with a moody sexy slow-burning anthemic tech house ballad “Ride With You.” Like “Make It Good”, “Ride With You” draws me in with its contagiously catchy melodic humming from Josef. “Ride With You” has less of a soulful disco flavour than “Make It Good”, and instead bears strong hints of new wave pop. In terms of the vibe, it reminds me of George Fitzgerald’s recent single “Magnetic” out on Double Six.
In addition to an extended dub by Emerson, the release also includes remixes from Berlin-based trio ItaloJohnson and Mike Dehnert. Each of the remixers strips away the pop feel of the song structure and vocal phrasing and delivers a distinctive dance-floor functionalist re-interpretation.
Ride With You drops January 27th. It will be available in digital format as well as on wax in limited quantities. Here is a little preview…
