For Canadian duo My Favorite Robot ‘s Atomic Age remix compilation, Edgar provided this ecstatic techno re-interpretation of “White Light”.
Jimmy Edgar ‘s remix of Pompeya ‘s “Power” drives hard with his signature four-to-the-floor claps and a symphony of dark warm morphing synths. The synths convey an air of coy reservedness on the surface–they remain cool and collected throughout. But there is also a sense that there is a turbid ocean of energy underneath them.

This is Jimmy Edgar ‘s second appearance on his new Berlin-based Ultramagic imprint. The Mercurio EP/single includes “Mercurio” and “Ultraviolet” and “Qlinda”.

It would seem that the majority of the tunes I have been listening to lately feature a four-to-the-floor kick drum. So if you’re of the opinion that most of that “nst’ nst’ nst’” crap sounds the same, you should probably stop reading now and find something else to listen to… However, if you have read this far already, my guess is that you have a sense of what you’re getting into and that you too will share my enthusiasm for many of these funky soulful gems.

The Berlin based label and collective, Leisure System , is back with another refreshing drop into their catalogue from two producers, Jimmy Edgar and Travis Stewart aka Machinedrum , working together in the collaborative effort, Jets.

In a recent interview with Fact Mag about the collaboration, Travis mentions that “you can kind of hear where we’ve been, and what we’ve come to, and everything.” What stands out in this duet is the presence of Edgar’s multi textured electro funk sounds and Machinedrum’s syncopated rhythmic tendencies. It may seem quite surprising for the producers to team up, but once heard, its pleasantly familiar.

In anticipation of his upcoming LP release on Hot Flush entitled Majenta , Jimmy Edgar has graciously shared this euphoric dance-floor cut to give us all a taste of what is to come on the album.
This Detroit-based producer has been publishing electronic music for at least ten years, with two LPs and a handful of EPs and singles via imprints such as Warp and K7.

MUTEK is just around the corner (the official festivities begin tonight) and it’s safe to say that anticipation is running high, here in Montreal. If you’re not already familiar, MUTEK is an international festival organization, founded in the year 2000. It’s centrepiece: the presentation of its annual namesake festival, held in Montreal, which thoughtfully showcases the strength and value of both electronic music and the digital arts. This year is MUTEK ‘s 13th instalment.
“Over 70 acts will converge on Montreal from May 30th to June 3rd, among them respected pioneers, hotly tipped emerging artists, adventurous sonic manipulators, and a significant number of Canadian artists who represent the wealth of digital creativity currently at work in this country.”

The 13th edition, as it has done in the past, will provide a platform for some of the most forward thinking minds in digital creativity to demonstrate their talents. This year’s spectators have the opportunity to catch some of our unabashed favourite names: Nicolas Jaar , Shlohmo , Salva , Kode 9 , Valentin Stip , Prison Garde , and so many more, as well as a number of experimental art installations that we’re looking forward to exploring (take the CineChamber for example).
