John Talabot | Without You
John Talabot has kindly shared this moody, soulful, expansive white label entitled “Without You”, which he created for his DJ kicks mix out November 12th.

Blanc 1 ‘s ” It’s All Over ” is the first in a series of white labels released by John Talabot ‘s Barcelona lable, Hivern . Limited to 100 copies, the announcement was made prior to a highly anticipated set at the London club, Fabric .
Due to audial similarities, and a mysterious lack of information on the artist, we speculate that Blanc 1 could, in fact, be an alias of label-head, John Talabot ‘s. Decide for yourself.

John Talabot and fellow Spaniard producer Pional (pictured above) have come together to rework the lead single from The xx ’s latest record, Coexist . The collaboration first caught our attention when Jamie xx ’s played out a clip of it during his recent Boiler Room set in Berlin , but it’s a pleasure to be treated to the track in it’s entirety.
The sprawling, eight-and-a-half minute piece references The Streets’ “Blinded by the Light,” and if you listen closely, you’ll understand why. The pair’s stammering synths that, along with the percussion, generate that dance floor groove are lifted from The Street’s opus.
We haven’t heard anything on an official release of the remix yet but you’ll know when we do.

Yesterday, Barcelona export John Talabot released two new tracks via his Soundcloud . Mai Mes and Tragedial, both exempted from his phenomenal February release “Fin,” they will be featured on a split 7″ exclusively available for purchase on his Canada-U.S. tour with the XX.
Clearly a result of the process that produced Fin, these tracks share the woozy, hypnagogic qualities that drew us to Talabot’s work last winter.

John Talabot has always considered his productions to be shadowy and grounded in darker hues. Despite the deceiving labels appropriated onto his pieces (“nu disco,” “tropical,” etc.), there is an unyielding tension and melancholic air that dominates the narrative of his last LP, fI N , released in February via Permanent Vacations .
A few hours ago, Talabot graciously offered up a piece from fIN , “Missing You,” as this week’s edition of Annie Mac’s Free Music Monday . If you haven’t already, introduce yourself to the unique sounds emerging from one of Barcelona’s finest electronic artists. You can also catch him live very soon, if you happen to be in the Vancouver area. Talabot is accompanying The xx on their North American tour and will be hitting The Vogue on October 5, promoting the release of his 12″ remix album of fIN .

Ever heard of Ghent? I didn’t think so. Well, if you haven’t, don’t beat yourself up too much because not once have I heard that perfectly plain North American yammer during my time spent here, despite the town bearing Lonely Planet’s number 7 spot on its 10 Places to Visit Before You Die list.
But enough about the town. Its lovely. Trust me. Canals, churches, cobblestone, jolly drunks, pretty people, and prettier personalities; its all here. What else is here, though, is an incredibly unique concert series showcasing an acute selection of electronic music’s foremost purveyors. That’s the real reason I’m here. Found down a winding alley and along side a murky jade strip of river is the Vooruit Art Centre ‘s 10 Days Off festival.
“In 1995, 10 Days Off started as 10 Days Of Techno. Today, almost every electronic music genre can be seen and heard at the festival. 10 Days Off has become a landmark in the international electronic music scene. The festival welcomes artists, clubbers, music lovers and media from all over the world.
The festival has its own character and style, built on its pioneering decisive choice for programming electronic music.”
