a lighter head for your heavy heart

King Deluxe | Year Two

King Deluxe , the local label that brought us Evy Jane , among a number of other talents, celebrated their second year in existence this month. To commemorate the occasion, the imprint have neatly packaged and gifted out a compilation consisting of new, original work from some of their regulars as well as a handful of remixes, courtesy of some outside sources, such as Limonious , HISTIBE , and Kit Downes .

A while back, King Deluxe undertook a project known as Project 2999 wherein producers were asked to craft a soundtrack for the end of the 30 th century. Artists such as Max Ulis and Strangeloop came forward with visions ranging from the apocalyptic to the serene, but somehow the collection maintained an intrinsic cohesion while naturally surging from start to finish. That same collective feel is present in Year Two - the tracks are grounded in transcendental rhythms and future-oriented beats yet exemplify either end of the sonic spectrum that King Deluxe represents.

Below, we’ve handpicked a couple of our favorite pieces out of the 19 tracks but it’s worth your time to grab the whole thing here .
