a lighter head for your heavy heart

Freddie Gibbs | Thuggin’ EP

Six years ago, Freddie Gibbs was on the outside looking in; dealing coke out of an Indianapolis recording studio. He soon grew tired of listening to the uninspired raps of those he shared the studio space with, and, feeling he could do better, released a string of critically acclaimed mixtapes. His rhymes are taut, aggressive, and above all, athletic, straining to fill every bar with as much scathing commentary of his crack game past as he can.

Today, Gibbs is very much on the rise. He just got signed to Young Jeezy’s label CTE , and his new Ep, “Thuggin” is produced by most rappers’ wet dream; Otis Jackson Jr. AKA Madlib. Below are cuts from his new album Cold Day In Hell, the aforementioned ep, and a breathtaking remix by Vancouver’s own Babe Rainbow.

Deep – Freddie Gibbs (Produced by Madlib) [hip-hop] [recommended]

B.A.N.N.E.D. – Freddie Gibbs [hip-hop]

National Anthem/Fuck The World (Screwed by Babe Rainbow) – Freddie Gibbs [hip-hop] [recommended]

Trill recognize trill,
