Mount Kimbie | Made to Stray

Mount Kimbie

Shadows turn to grey / Slave today-

Yesterday evening, while Ben UFO was preparing for his Rinse FM show, he received a rather cryptic video message from Mount Kimbie and subsequently got his hands on (and played out) the first track to emerge from the UK duo’s forthcoming record.

As it stands, Mount Kimbie are keeping the details of the album almost entirely under wraps. The pair recently mentioned that the LP is in fact finished, will be released via Warp and is heavily influenced by being on tour and playing live for two years straight. The title and release date have yet to be announced. However, it won’t be too much longer until we know more- Dom and Kai have an upcoming string of tour dates and will be releasing some more tunes in the not too distant future.

“Made to Stray” is longer that what we would generally expect from the pair, but it’s a welcome adjustment. Atop a bed of clicking percussion, MK’s characteristic warm, warbling synths build into a melodic climax complete with distant, melancholy vocals. Have a listen to the radio rip below.

Update : In the last week Dom and Kai have made it known that the album, entitled Cold Spring Fault Less Youth, will be released on May 27th, announced a U.S./Canadian tour , and offered up “Made to Stray” for free download. Head here to grab it.
