a lighter head for your heavy heart

Tourist | Placid Acid

William Phillips is a Brighton based producer who just recently began to release original work under the signature Tourist. Although this pseudonym only has a few months usage, Philips is no stranger to producing; having developed a desirable collection of remixes under the name Little Loud.  It is also noteworthy that despite today’s disappointing culture of calling a simple addition of bass and snare a remix, Philips maintains the applaudable talent of cultivating original songs into new works of art. It also doesn’t hurt that all his remixes were done at the request of their respective record labels.

At the start of the year Phillips treated his fans with the Tourist sample track Placid Acid; a fluid mix of euphoric tones and articulated beats that gave his listeners a taste of his new work.   In March he graced us all with the rest of his self-titled EP.  The 4-track collection creates a lucid ambience of oscillating synths, psychedelic phasers, and fluttering rhythms.  Check it all out online, and keep ear on this guy.
