Shadow Child and Kry Wolf ‘s label, Food Music , is at it again, this time with a long awaited delivery from Birmingham’s Hannah Wants and her go-to collaborator, Chris Lorenzo . “Dappy” was brought to our attention during the Dirtybird Records Christmas takeover of Pete Tong ‘s BBC Radio 1 show in early December. This release has gained huge support from the likes of Justin Martin & Claude Vonstroke , as well as T. Williams . These are tender, yet husky bites of British bass house with an aftertaste not far from the characteristic blend of ash, dust, and copper left in one’s mouth after a proper day of festival go-ing.

In lieu of Skream and Disclosure ‘s back to back Boiler Room fuckery that took place live from the presidential suite of the W Hotel in London this evening, we bring you this feast of a house tune. Skream flatteringly rinsed “23” only two days after it’s impactful release to the public. This is the title track off Shadow Child ‘s 4 track EP of similarly cultured “peak time” house”, and will be the first release for his new label, Food Music . With a co-founder like Kry Wolf and early support from the likes of Eats Everything , and Mistajam , one should expect big things from this newly formed entity.
Hopefully like us, you enjoy this tune infinitely more than the sluggish crowd seemed to, who were lucky enough to be in attendance in that pillow feather ridden hotel room.

Today Kentucky artist Caleb Cornett [ Amtrac ] released a half an hour ‘Soho Beach House Mix’. I have never posted a mix-tape before, but this one made me bop in my chair enough that I felt obliged.

Within a vast sea of artists coming up in the world in 2012, it has become evident to me that more so than ever, there is a fine but very integral line that separates those who are capable of creating acceptable and followable art, from those who create something that captivates listeners/viewers alike in a larger way. Whether due to shock value, originality, or simply a level of refinement and subtle attention to detail that it makes one shiver, these artists have a gift — perhaps defining the difference between talent, and skill alone.
Kieran Fearing has unveiled a single off of ‘Reprieve’, his debut 10 track album. The album is the product of a collaboration with friend/producer Jonathan Scherk. It has a man in a white room with a piano feel, along with evidence of Mr. Scherk’s own additions.
The date for the release has yet to be announced, but will be — once he has found an appropriate imprint to release it on.
In my opinion, Kieran is one of the talented artists. His work contains a level of musicality and melody that I don’t often hear.
