Salva & Nguzunguzu | North American Tour

Current L.A. resident, Friends of Friends affiliate, and owner of SF based label Frite Nite — Salva, along with L.A. Production duo Nguzunguzu (Fade To Mind + Night Slugs ), have embarked on a fourteen-date North American Tour, with stops in SXSW and the Winter Music Conference in Miami.

Most noteable to low-lifes alike, are stops in Vancouver at The Waldorf tomorrow (9th), and Montreal on the 22nd at Blue Dog.

If you’ve been following LL, you will have seen the many posts on Salva following his Complex Housing album, more recently following his Yellobone EP release (which included remixes by Shlohmo & 2KWTVR and LOL Boys), and most recently in Wolfey’s latest Bootleg Mixtape .

See you there.

Sincerely,

KO

Culprate | Tentacle VIP

Hailed as one of the most technical and intuitive producers of his day, Culprate did what he did best and created a stunning VIP of Tentacle. Not only that, he has decided to give it away completely free of charge to bring further awareness to his Five Star EP release on Inspected . This track really does take you on a journey, beginning with the familiar overtones of the original and then taking you somewhere completely unexpected, like a surprise vacation. So without further chatter, I give you:

Joy O & Boddika | Froth / Mercy

Rolling off of the success of last year’s collaborative achievement, “Swims,” Joy O & Boddika released this double header on the mysterious Sunklo imprint last month. It lives up to every notion of disco-grime set by their previous experiment. The pair have been accredited to be trend setters in the world of dance music, so keep your wits about so that you don’t miss a beat.

Danger Dan | The Count (Boy 8-Bit Remix)

We bring you today a taste of David Morris of Penzance, Cornwall (UK) AKA Boy 8-Bit ‘s refix of Danger Dan ‘s ‘The Count.’ A forthcoming release on Theo Keating’s ( Fake Blood ) new label aptly called, Blood Music .

“I grew up listening to Guns N Roses , Metallica and a lot of heavy metal and my first steps into dance music came when I discovered that there was a copy of The Prodigy ’s first album ‘ The Experience ’ on the other side of a Slayer cassette I was given. Oddly, I found myself listening more to The Prodigy album and feeling somewhat guilty about it.”

ENiGMA Dubz | Keep It On The Low

Once again showing incredible diversity in his productions, ENiGMA Dubz takes it down a notch with this emotional garage tune. The drums and vocal sample work stand out particularly in this piece, and paired with the rhythmic chord stabs and warm inviting sub bass, create something extremely memorable.

Also, check out his Hard To Smile EP which was released on Four40 Records earlier this year:

Burial + Four Tet | Nova

Here is the latest collaboration from two producers who need no introductions.  Their music will break your heart if you listen carefully enough.

‘Nova’ is bitter-sweet.

Scuba | Personality LP

“It’s just fun. That’s generally what I’ve been trying to do throughout my musical life, just make things fun, and have a laugh doing stuff. Because at the end of the day that’s what it’s all about – not having a proper job and just doing what you want to do.”

Personality is the third full-length from Scuba following up his debut, A Mutual Antipathy, and his sophomore release Triangulation .  With this release, London-bred, Berlin-based producer Paul Rose delivers a torrent of artfully executed rave music. Rose draws on his experiences immersed in UK underground dance music from the late 90s through the 2000s.  He blends classic sonic elements from garage, jungle, and techno to the effect that his music has a glow of mysterious familiarity; but his delivery is refined, calculated, and yet fresh.

Rose is also the curator of Hot Flush , which is an eclectic electronic label that brought you Mount Kimbie’s Crooks & Lovers and releases from Joy Orbison, Untold, Cosmin TRG, dBridge, Pangaea, Lando Kal, and others.

You can hear more from Personality here .

Video: Grimes | Oblivion

Here is the first video from Grimes’ recently released LP, Visions, for the infectious single, “Oblivion.” The video, directed by Emily Kai Bock , follows Claire Boucher as she casually sings and prances to the beat of her own drum at a football game, a motorcycle rally, in a locker room, and a homemade mosh pit. Pick up the entire album here .

Soosh | SoFar EP Minimix

Soroosh Khavari has spent the last little while getting his fingers dirty in preparation for his forthcoming EP, SoFar, and it seems that his work is complete. Just yesterday Soosh put out a sweet little teaser, granting us a taste of the highly texturized organic soundscapes, or “electronic dream hop”, that we’re already looking forward to hearing on the release. The album in it’s entirety will be available on March 19th.

Shredexx | Just For You

With constant support from such heavyweights as N-Type and Distance , Shredexx has achieved a modicum of success that is no less than well deserved. The unique movement between bass lines and dungeon-like atmosphere of his tracks sets him apart from other producers of his craft, as is demonstrated in Transporta :

In celebration of reaching 500 fans on his facebook page, Shredexx has decided to give us this aptly named tune.
