Cecile & Refleksie | First Sparkle (Axel Boman Remix)
The name Axel in Swedish means “shoulder.” Axel Boman ‘s nickname is Rumpa, meaning “ass” – an appropriate moniker, given that his particular brand of polyrhythmic tech house is much more suited for booty shaking than shoulder shrugging. His latest touch up of the Milanese duo Cecile & Refleksie’ s First Sparkle is sparse in its elements (8 bit synths, spidery funk guitar, and simple 808 percussion), however, the composition of this track is gorgeously complex – it’s as if he managed to construct a turbocharged Saab out of a spare tire, steering wheel, and a few nuts and bolts.
I guess that’s Swedish engineering for you.
