Lulu James | Closer

Lulu James

With her debut EP back in 2010, Lulu James joined the ever-growing movement of UK artists who are experimenting with the boundaries of R&B, soul, pop, and everything in between. Inspired by the likes of Jamie xx , Gil Scott Heron , James Blake , and Jamie Woon , James has comfortably dubbed her work as 21 st century soul and the title couldn’t be more fitting.

Her most recent piece “Closer” just recently premiered on Annie Mac ’s Weekend Roundup on BBC Radio 1 and is set for release in March via RCA . Over a glistening production entirely reminiscent of 90s dance floor tunes, James’ ardent vocals blaze, paying tribute to the soul music she immersed herself in while growing up.

If you missed it, have a listen to her Be Safe/Stuck EP produced by Kidnap Kid and Hostage here . The production on her latest is courtesy of James’ mentor, Domzilla .
