Ahead of his forthcoming release, Hinterland , Berlin producer and Plagent label head Recondite shares an alternate mix of one of its tracks. His ‘Into the Dew Mix’ of “Stems” is rich with atmospheric sound and furnished with an apt juxtaposition of soft, lullaby-esque melody and deep, blunted bass tones.
“I tried to capture the area’s mentality and natural environment within the album… Particularly, the moods that behold the emotions of the four seasons, which differ a lot in this region.”
Hinterland will be see an official release on November 11 via Ghostly Records .

It’s not often that we post submissions. One reason for that is because I don’t stay on top of the inbox.
However, this morning I received a message from Candidat with a link to this song and I’m glad that I happened to open it. This is delightful candy-coated funky feel-good french-house. Candidat slices Ezra Koenig’s giddy boyish vocals from the outro of “Diane Young” into staccato lead riffs, rendering the original lyrics undecipherable. And I hope you have a subwoofer wired up when you press play because the low-end on this mix is full and deep.

Out soon via Double Six , both in mp3 as well as in 12″ format, here is Paul Woolford ‘s re-interpretation of George Fitzgerald ‘s anthemic house single “I Can Tell” .
Woolford strips away most of the vocal, the chords, and melody, and instead morphs rhythmic piano riffs over top of the rhythm section in order to develop the arrangement. Make sure to hang on until around 3:07 to experience the main turning point in the track.

Following up his break-out single “ Reykjavik ,” which showcases his silky smooth falsetto, his understated approach to production, and his keen pop songwriting sensibilities, UK-based electronic pop producer Brolin recently shared this remix of Lulu James’ soulful future-classic “Closer”. When a song is an undeniable gem, the standard of excellence is set pretty high for the producer who attempts to remix it. I must admit that Brolin’s adaptation doesn’t make me melt in the way that the original version does; nevertheless, it is definitely worth listening to. Also, if I’m not mistaken, Brolin integrates some of his own vocals in support of Ms. James, which brings a novel dynamic to the track.

A few days ago, Vancouver-based producer GRLFRIEND , a.k.a. T.J. McDonald, shared this dark spacious brooding cut.
It’s a sparse groove punctuated by spurts of 808 percussion and slices of pitched down R&B vox. The bass is deep and rich, and the snake-charmer lead synth melody that dances over top (1:21–) is sexy and infectious.

Yesterday, Shadow Child granted his fans a chance to experience his mellifluous bass-house monument off the forthcoming Dirtybird Players Compilation . “The Only One” encapsulates the harmonious vault-like bass that Dirtybird has become known for – while simultaneously concreting a signature style within those low-end realms. There’s an enterprisingly cheeky, yet cheerful weight to this track that reminds me of the amount of flailing I did ’round the room when I first heard Shadow Child’s “23″ dropped at the beginning of the infamous Skream B2B Disclosure @ Boiler Room (W Hotel London) .
